Recommendations for Philadelphia artists

I love to eat, but I'm an artist and am therefore limited in means. My sweetheart (also an artist) and I have a few good stand-bys: Penang, Vietnam, Minar Palace. For lunch we enjoy Bitar's, Tony Luke's and the stuffed buns at Chinatown bakeries. Does anyone have any recommendations for other restaurants with good food and reasonable prices? We love all types of food.
Also, I know there are other great places in Chinatown but would appreciate it if, along with your recommendation, you would note whether the restaurant is of the great food/fluorescent light variety.
Not all the recommendations need be quite as low-priced as the restaurants I mentioned (though those will be the most appreciated). We do splurge once in a while, but please bear in mind that "splurging" for us may not be the same as it is for others. A few examples of our splurge restaurants would be the late, lamented Joseph's on Passyunk (excellent); Bistro La Baia (good); and My Thai (excellent). Thanks.
