I have half a bottle of sauternes in the fridge that needs to be used up stat. It isn't great, and I really don't care for it enough to drink half a bottle. It's a very flat tasting sauternes, straightforwardly sugary without much complexity. Sad, I know.
How can I use it up? I would do something savory or sweet. I would appreciate keeping it simple rather than having to go out and get a bunch of ingredients to complement the sauternes. This bottle doesn't taste good enough to be worth all that effort, but it also doesn't deserve to be poured down the drain. Can I incorporate it into a simple pear cake? Cream puffs? Something savory? I'm just tossing out ideas of things I want to eat, not things that necessarily might work.
