I've been a lurker here on Chowhound for a year or two, and am finally signing up for an account.
I'm trying to find a recipe that my grandmother used to make but I'm not sure how to even look it up. I've tried some google searching but haven't had any luck.
She made (and canned) a tomato sauce that was fairly thin (think catalina salad dressing) and was also quite sweet with just a slight hint of spicy.
We used it to put over collard greens and any kind of pea. I have no idea what it was or how she made it. I don't remember ever seeing her make it. I just know we called it tomato sauce.
Anyone ever heard of anything like this? She lived in Georgia all her life, so my guess would be it's a Southern thing.
