Went to Quince tonight and I have to say it was my best experience ever. I've gone three times now. This time, my date and I were greeted and told that there had been a mix-up with an early reservation and there would be a wait for our table. But, they rallied - sat us down at the chef's table and brought us glasses of champagne, sparkling water and an amouse bouche of toast with house smoked salmon, fennel, radishes, french beans. A very graceful beginning and actually somewhat nice to have a private room for a few minutes to start. Once we arrived at our table, we were never rushed, service was flawless and everything was wonderful, start to finish. Every other time I've gone, there has been some service problem -- once we were asked to leave -- so many people were waiting because Robin Williams with a party of 6 had dropped in unnannounced (he lives in the neighborhood). This time it seems they have improved the level of service, the food was also more refined - and there were more choices on the menu than I remember in the past -- at least a dozen pastas. We enjoyed a perfect white burgundy and a light muscat for dessert. Quite an inspired evening without pretension - more than I had hoped for. Quince has finally lived up to its promise -- for me -- for once.
