Sometime this week I'll post with more details, but here is a quick summary of my recent cross-country skiing trip to the wonderful town of Bend. The huge storms that hit during our visit kept us in our condo and slightly limited our dining out (but with leftover xmas tamales, all the fixins, and several bottles of wine and Belgian beers in the cooler, good chow was still enjoyed).
Merenda - The best restaurant we tried.
Alpenglow - Amazing buttermilk pancakes.
Deschutes Brewery - Excellent beers and pub food.
Tacos Ricos Truck (3rd/Cleveland) - Outstanding lengua tacos.
So-so or Inconclusive:
Tacos Ricos Restaurant - Good birria de chivo, terrible quesadillas.
Scanlons - Lunch was okay, didn't make it back for dinner.
Bendistillery "Tasting" Room - Would not let me order or taste straight liquors, instead had to order a martini. My GF also had a horrible lemon drop.
Cork - Poor food, especially an insultingly bad risotto.
On The Rocks - Atrocious food and horrible service.
That's it for now, though I feel like I'm forgetting something. Hopefully I'll remember by the time I do a full write-up.
