Puccini in Whitestone

I thought I read about this restaurant on the chow board, but i can't find any mention of it, so maybe I found it some place else. Anyway, it's a very nice Italian restaurant on Utopia and Francis Lewis (where Square Deli used to be). The place is very pretty, and the food was a cut above the usual stuff, at least for this culinarily arid part of Queens. Not a red sauce place. I had lovely mozz, tomatoe, asparagus, etc. plate which was extra good when perked up with balsamic. I had a lovely pizza (just a bit saucy, but still quite well made). My carnivore husband was very happy with his chicken (I forget the kind - maybe marsala) which was actual slices, and a large portion, not that stewy stuff that usually comes along. Oh, I also had broccoli with garlic and angel hair, and it was great! Not greasy, nicely garlicky, just good stuff. My daugher had the eggplant and mozz on pasta, and lapped it up. My mother-in-law shared with me, and we all left very happy. Only criticism in the staff is over eager to clean your table, so you have to tell them you want to take it slow and they should chill out, which they will do. We went prime time on a recent Sat nite, and the place was pleasantly filled. We didn't have a reservation, but I have a feeling that ability to waltz in on a Sat nite will be ending soon. Anyway, curious about others' reactions.
