Had two pretty good things at Modern Thai on Polk

Just a note to the Tenderloin Thai fans. Was up in the city, and tried a new place up Polk from Ozone (along with Thai House Express my fave so far in that area). Modern Thai is the place, and the two dishes of note were a duck salad with lime, chili, mint, rice powder etc. that had a perfect balance in the dressing, all the ingredients were present, with none overpowering. The duck was pretty good and there was a reasonable amount ( I would say a larger portion than at Ozone, and better than the same dish at Ozone). We also had a crispy trout with chili, lime, lemongrass, shallots, green apple and cashews. In truth, this was a fried fish topped with a Thai-style chopped salad. The fish was slightly dry, but the crunchiness was a nice counterpart to a well-balanced dressing. The apple was especially nice in the dish, although I don't remember tasting any of the advertised cashews. Service was so-so as was the Pad Ki Mow (slightly too sweet, but decent spice and basil flavor- this dish is made by throwing some sugar in with the noodles in the wok that quickly heats up, then the rest of the sauce is added- just enough sugar gives a nice charred/toasted taste, but too much and the noodles come out sweet). Anyone else been there? There are many Thai places in the area, and I'm working my way through them, but live out of town.
