Just got back from Prestons on Broadway, Burlingame. Had a very satisfying ice cream cone, then browsing through their chocolates and candies noticed chocolate covered peanut brittle. Wow. Good stuff. Their mixed nut brittle also looked awesome.
This place has been serving great ice cream since 1946 - the maple nut and the pecan praline are excellent. They don't make it in-house anymore (the ice cream that is, the chocolates are still done there), but it is still made to their recipe by a place called Loards in San Leandro. Mostly traditional flavors, this is no Mitchells with the "exotic" flavors galore, but Prestons does what they do well.
Check em out when you're in Burlingame or on the way to/fro the airport, and they have a newer location in Los Altos now too.
