PORTLAND - Thai Hut (Powell and 48th or so)

Been to this place about 4 times now. Everything we try is good. And everything we try again is as good as it was the first time.

Last night we brought 3 vegetarians with us (my partner and I are not) and so we had 2 appetizers and 5 entree dishes on the table. Salad rolls, fried wontons, mild yellow curry with tofu, veggie-tofu special, veggie pad thai, spicy red curry with chicken, and Thai BBQ chicken - ALL GOOD. They were so grateful we brought others (and that we keep returning ourselves!), that they gave us a free dessert (that was tasty too)- a soupy vanilla pudding with bananas.

These folks are so nice and accomodating, they will cook anything the way you want it. They will make any meat dish with tofu (fried OR steamed!) in addition to the veggie choices. Traditional with lots of heat and cilantro or not (for me, the chili wimp and cilantro hater). The one (the place is tiny - 12 or so tables) wonderful server is happy to help you choose - she will recommend what is good that day and what you should avoid.

If you're in the Foster-Powell neighborhood, which is seeming to be a wasteland for deliciousness, this place is a find! Patronize it!
