Portland report - part 2 - bluehour

After a disappointing meal at Paley's the first night, we went to Bluehour the second night. We loved it.

Our table wasn't ready when we got to Bluehour either, but there was plenty of room at the bar, and we struck up a conversation with a wild elderly couple. My martini was extremely tasty.

We didn't have to wait long to get our table. We loved the space and the atmosphere.

For apps, I had the salmon tartar and my wife had the scallops. The salmon was excellent. The scallops were good, but a little overcooked.

For main course, I had striped bass with a saffron sace, which was very good, and my wife had the chicken, which was excellent.

The dessert was killer - an almond panna cotta. It was the most velvety panna cotta I have ever tasted.

The only notch against was the price of wine - the chardonnay was $11 a glass. Ouch. But it was good.

All in all, this meal saved the day. I was seriously doubting Portland's food after Paley's, but Bluehour came through for the fair city. I'd go back just for the martini and the panna cotta!
