Porter's Steakhouse - ugh, stay away

So I've been staying at Hotel 71 twice a month for the better part of this year. I've managed to eat at Porter's only once this entire time until last night, when the rain and my generally pooped state made me decide to try it again. Ordered what I thought was a simple dinner: glass of pinot noir, mixed green salad, grilled salmon w/risotto, proscuitto and roasted tomatoes. Wine was lovely, but overpriced ($14). Salad greens were reasonably fresh, served with some sliced almonds and a few strips of roasted red pepper, but the whole thing was totally overloaded with the balsamic vinaigrette. The salmon itself was alright, but the fillet was wildly uneven in size, so parts were overdone and other were definitely in the medium-rare category. But the absolute worst offenders of the night were the "risotto" and the proscuitto. The risotto was made with a long grain rice, not arborio, and was in some insipid white cream sauce (apparently to make up for the texture the correct rice would have provided). It was obviously made in advance and just scooped out onto my plate. Most of the proscuitto was completely dried out. And to add insult to injury, the entire dish had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp while I ate my salad. The fresh herb garnish was wilted and the rice had a dried film over it.

Yuck.

Thank goodness for the nice glass of wine.
