Dined at Portalli's in Ellicott City last night (3/2/15). Couldn't believe how crowded the traffic was on a Thursday evening about 6:30. Had to park WAY UP THE HILL OFF OF MAIN STREET--NOT NECESSARILY A PROBLEM EXCEPT I WAS DUMB ENOUGH TO WEAR HIGH HEALS.
Okay--my observations. The bread and accompanying dipping herbed oil was exquisite and requested multiple portions, which the server was very accommodating. Wines by the glass were well priced. MY partner's Portalli salad was scrumptious--greens, goat cheese, nuts, lemon infused dressing--wonderful. While my partner delved into the wonderful salad, I ordered the fried eggplant appetizer. Divine--with roasted tomatoes and cheese. a hefty portion.
Entrees--Partner ordered the Veal Saltimboca which had fresh brussel sprouts.
The veal literally "jumped into the mouth."
I ordered two appetizers--the grilled oysters--tiny morsels but full of flAVOR. The gnocchi appetizer was rich and --no more words to describe. Can't wait to return and share the experience with some friends who will appreciate the menu. FoiGras
