Help the poor out of town diners... Please guys!!!!!!!

I am really frustrated right now. I find out that I get to come to Chicago with my wife and her brother and his wife. The bad news is that it is happening next month. NO time to plan to eat in one of my favorite restaurant towns in America.
Let me vent for just one second. The exclusivity of Next is infuriating. And now, having read that Alinea is thinking of changing their reservation system to tickets as well, I am totally dejected. OK, done.
I have always found a treasure trove of information and have never been let down by the consensus opinion on reservations here. With only a month before my trip, is the Girl and the Goat just a dream? I went there the last time in Chicago but I reserved nearly 3 months in advance. I would love to go back to take my brother-in-law but have a feeling this is out of the question.
I am definitely going to go back to the Aviary for drinks. I feel this is nearly a cant miss thing to do.
Here is the dilemma:
What restaurant would you pick to replace Alinea? They say they are booked up and we are on the waiting list. We want something nice. We would like a tasting menu, more than likely, unless there is something that we shouldn't miss. We have been to Spiaggia, Girl and the Goat, and Tru recently. I need some other can't miss recommendations to lift my spirits!!!! Thanks so much.
