Pollo Campero Beans

Brian Cohen | Oct 8, 2004 08:39 PM

Went to Pollo Campero in Sunset Park (45th & 5th Ave) for the first time this evening. As has already been noted on the board, the chicken is tasty when fresh out of the fryer, but no challenger to the sainted Poultry Mart of Great Neck.

The beans, however, are a whole other deal. They are a beautful stew of red beans, smokey bacon and some other ground meat. A container of them with Pollo Campero's steamed corn tortillas and you're all set. The rice, despite being hyped as "spicy," is mildly tasty and a bit ragged for sitting for some time, but good enough to round out a meal of red beans, rice and tortilla.

Go for the beans.
