New chowhounder here! After reading a review of the pizza at Gran Gusto a few days ago, I had to go and try it for myself.
I was blown away. Perhaps I've just never had Neapolitan pizza before, but this was stunning. I've eaten at a variety of Cambridge/Boston pizza places and had my fair share of pizza in Italy, but this ranks as one of the best pizzas I've ever had.
Fragrant, fresh sauce. Distinctive mozzarella. Just a hint of olive oil. A thin crust that expanded into a soft, buttery, doughy yet light crust around the edge of the pizza.
One of my dining companions, who is generally apprehensive and disdainful of anything that wouldn't feature on the menu at Applebees, pronounced it the best pizza he had ever had.
I'd be interested to hear what people who are familiar with Neapolitan pizza think of it. Is it really top notch, or am I just too used to crummy American style pizza?
