For our 8 year dating anniversary last weekend my hubby surprised me with dinner at Pif (even though we are married and the "real" anniversary is coming up :))
Place is cute, service was ecxcellent, food was divine, prices were moderate to a little high (given what we ordered - below). In short I would go back for a special occasion (and recommend it highly, the service and food were really really good) but it's probably a little high for a random dinner out.
We split the escargot app served in a port sauce (10 i think), 12 nice size snails (sans shell), yumm!
He had the rabbit (i think it was 24). Once you got past the fact that it was rabbit, it was very tasty. Cooked perfectly with tasty sides of potatoes and broccoli raab. I settled on 2 apps for my entree, I had the broiled figs with gorgonzola ($8) and the snapper tartare ($10). Both were really good, the tartare being a standout (if you've had matyson's tartare it's in the same style minus the fruit).
We had 2 divine desserts (i think they were 6 and 7 respectively), tiramisu (ample portion) and an excellent creme brulee (a touch on the small side but excellent quality).
All in all, the portion sizes were adequate, not huge, the food was of excellent quality, and the service was attentive without being pushy.The only downside is that it is a touch more expensive than your typical byob (at least that we go to - of course we rarely get escargot and rabbit, so that is probably why) and it is very small so you are very close to the next table.
