After the recent article in the Chronicle about the delights of Pho, I was really dying to try it out. I passed the "new" Pho Ha Tien on Ocean Ave at Ashton. I decided to try the Sate Beef, Cold Shrimp Spring Rolls and Lychee Bubble Tea.
The Pho was everything described in the article and more, red flecked coconut broth with rare beef on top of a giant cluster of skinny noodles, I think lemon grass and star anise with a little cabbage and onion. It was served with a side of bean sprouts, basil, lemon and jalapeno. (5.75) Mr. Silverman and I made a giant slurping meal of it and really cannot wait to go back. They also have Banh Mi, so it will probably be tomorrow for lunch!
I also really liked the bubble tea, the spring rolls were, alas, forgetable. The ones at Tu Lan were sooo much better, due to the addition of thin pork slices.
