Looks like the move was completed a few weeks ago and they are fully up and running at their new location taking over the spot vacated by King of Kings Chinese restaurant near the corner of E. 12th St and 12th Ave.
They've remodeled the digs and they are currently only using the bottom floor. The space looks much more spacious than before since they've removed the BBQ/Deli section of K of K. And of course it's much cleaner than their old location.
I went today, on Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm, so I caught the tail end of the after church crowd, and it was still very full, they were taking names on a list and I was about 8 parties down the list when I got there. Seating capacity is at least double if not more as compared to their old location.
I went with my usual for rainy weather, and to make sure that they hadn't lost anything in the move as far as the food went. This included an order of Goi Cuon and Pho Dac Biet, Bo Vien (summer rolls and Regular Beef combo with meat balls). Goi Cuon is a pretty simple vietnamese appetizer, but you'd be surprised at how many places just don't get it right, either by leaving something out or just in quality control. But, I gotta say, even with this simple dish, it was one of the best ones I've had that wasn't made at home. Full and properly rolled with fresh pork and shrimp and the peanut sauce was nicely balanced.
The pho was still the same old Ao Sen quality which I already considered my top choice in recent years so I'm glad to report that the move didn't result in any degradation in that department.
