My husband and I recently went to Phil's for a very casual lunch. I ordered a salad topped with chicken, and was asked "Grilled, fried or blackened?". I selected blackened. My husband ordered a blackened grouper sandwich. Both of our meals were delicious, well-prepared and generous portions, as usual.
Then we got the bill. We were surprised to see, after each of our entrees, a line that said "Blackened.......0.50"!
Do many restaurants do this now? We eat here fairly often, but seldom order anything blackened (just a coincidence that we both did that day). Maybe they've always charged this fee and we never noticed? We didn't ask any questions about it because it was such a minimal charge, but I wish now that we had! I didn't notice an advisement on the menu about this, but I might have missed it
What do you think? Is this reasonable? I feel kinda ripped off! But I''ll still go back cuz I like it there :)
