Last night, my boyfriend and I trekked down to Phil's BBQ in search of good, smokey BBQ. Well, we were not disappointed but we were not exactly wowed either. The atmosphere was really cool, casual and relaxed with blues/jazz playing in the background. Service was efficient and friendly. The ribs were really quite good better than anything I've had in toronto so far nice smokey taste and a good sized portion, with tart colesale and pit beans to go along. (haven't been to dipamo's yet but I can attest that the purple pig was not so good) However, the man had the combo platter and his chicken was a tad dry and the brisket was plain. We think this may have been an off night because prior to an order we were privy to a regular's conversation with the staff. He had commented it was 'not too good tonight'. A return trip will be in order because those ribs were pretty good and I'd love to try their pulled pork next time.
