The Perfect Cupcake in LA - Light & Fluffy (cake+frosting)

April | Apr 25, 2006 03:15 PM

What's going on in this city that cupcakes suddenly drift into the most innocuous of conversations?

In any event, I'm in search of the perfect cupcake.

So far, I've tried:
1-Joan's on Third-not bad. Applause for the lack of(a good thing)nauseatingly buttery/sugary frosting.
2-Auntie Em's-once again, not bad though the cake was very heavy & dry. The frosting was yummy but, too heavy for me.
3-Yummy Donuts-Didn't like these at all. Flavorless cake & wayyyy too buttery/sugary frosting. Presentation was perfect though.
4-Clementine's-so-so. Cake & frosting weren't bad but, the cream in the center seemed like it had turned.
5-Aroma Cafe-Best cupcake so far, for my taste buds. Good tasting cake & frosting, although I'd half the amount of sugar in the frosting. Presentation not so slick BUT, who cares if the cupcake rocks. Actually I find these cupcakes to be very homey, which plays right into the comfort foodiness of cupcakeland.

Any other suggestions folks?
