Pearl in Wellfleet Harbor, Upper Cape Cod: Attractive Casual Dining with Beautiful Views and Excellent Food!

Surprisingly, this place is not mentioned in Zagat , Gayot, Chowhound, or Boston Magazine, so when referred by a local long-time gallery owner, we were delighted to have a very well prepared lunch at Pearl before departing from our off- season midweek vacation on the Cape. Of the few things that the 2 of us had room for, highlights were the (truly)stellar rich creamy clam chowder (we brought home a quart!!) and the Clams Casino (simply topped with garlic butter , bread crumbs and bacon, and just touched by the flame- enough to cook them through but not make them tough.-- This takes real skill!) The Cobb Salad w/ Swordfish was tasty, attractively presented and very satisfying. Chicken Nachos had real ingredients (including house made tortilla chips, avocado crema, queso) and was very flavorful.

Our waitress was smart, thoughtful and efficient , and the (late lunch) room was conversation-friendly, bright and airy w/ ceiling fans and open window walls, and a really lovely screened -in porch ( a second floor has even better views!) We didn't try the much raved Mac's on the Wharf next door, but we were perfectly happy that we chose Pearl. The wife/manager and chef/husband have a great crew and it makes sense that they are enjoying their seventh year of success here at Pearl. (Be sure to take in their beautifully sculpted sign out front in the oyster shell parking lot.)
