[PDX] German Sausage...

Nick | Jun 25, 2003 02:04 AM

Was out east on Airport Way and so I made my usual sojourn to La Iguana Feliz for a little lunch. Excellent as usual. Though since I'm on the Atkin's diet, I sucked the innards from the tacos in order to avoid eating the tortillas. Still yummy.

On the way back to the interstate I decided to stop off at a place I always pass there on Sandy. It just says "German Sausage" in big letters. Went in. There's a sit down deli to the left and a deli counter with salamis, sausages, meats, charcuterie, and cheeses to the right. In the middle are non-perishable groceries like chocolates, mustards, preserves, and a range of things-pickled.

Got some pastrami, corned beef, and about 6 different sausages, a couple I had never heard of. Pretty good stuff and at $4.29/lb a good value. The sell sausages both smoked and fresh. They probably have 20 kinds total.

Looked like there's a German bakery just down the street, too. Maybe when I get off the diet I'll try that, too. Anyway, it's probably only a 1/4 mile down on the south side of Sandy east of 205. If you're over at Gartner's meat market, you might want to make a trip. I think they're open til 6 pm. Next time maybe I'll try their bloodworst with tongue...
