Patou Thai, Belmont, revocation of prior bad comments

I have posted my dislike of the takeout at Patou Thai on this board in the distant past. Had never eaten in. My wife and I had a few minutes free before a nearby meeting and a hankering for Thai, so we stopped in against my better judgement.

It was very good. Much, much better than the takeout we have gotten in the past.

Chicken/mushroom soup in a sweet coconut milk broth was delicately flavored and delicious. Vegetable rolls were beautifully presented with a basil leaf rolled in the wrapper and a squiggle of red chili paste along the plate. My wife was going to hoard them all until I seduced her with a bite of my soup and she agreed to share both. My country style ground chicken was nicely flavored and far too much for me to eat in one sitting, but was not as spicy as I would have liked. Pad thai was very good.

Had a nice pinot grigio from the alto aldige region. Don't remember the name. The wine list is reasonable but short, the only major lack was a sweeter reisling which would have gone nicely.

All in all a very nice, unexpectedly pleasant meal. I still wouldn't order takeout, though.
