On my way home from work, I saw lights on in The Patio (2525 Dwight Way in Berkeley). I decided to investigate on my way to the gym. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to eat anything, so that will wait until tomorrow.
Here's the deal:
It's been cleaned up inside.
The ratty sofa in front and wooden bench in back have been replaced.
The menu has been pared down slightly. It focuses on sandwiches, with some weekly specials.
Under heat from the city of Berkeley, they will operate under SEVERELY limited hours--Tuesday through Saturday, 11am-8:30pm.
Happy hour will be (I think) daily from 5:30-8:30pm
Currently, their credit card swiping machine is busted, so they're cash only for the time being.
Apparently, the city of Berkeley has been really clamping down on south-of-campus alcohol, and these limited hours are just a taste of what we might see. But that's for the not about food board.
It will be interesting to see how they roll with these civic punches!
