Went to Pastis last night and wanted to fall in love with it. LA doesn't have the same restaurant scene as NY, and I've had a difficult time falling in love with any place (though AOC has been consistently good). That aside, we were delighted that Pastis offered a wine tasting menu (they do this once a month), and we were encouraged by the tasting menu (straight forward country French), but must say that the food was standard fare at best. Liked the space and enjoyed the owner and our waiter, but the food servers were a bit abrupt and out of sync with the mood of the place. I'm tired of mediocre food! Cafe Stella is a great little space, and like Pastis, it feels a bit like NY, but the food borders on atrocious. Is there a cool little French place in this town?
