Park Ridge sightings

LAZ | May 8, 200406:23 AM

Drove through downtown Park Ridge a noticed a couple of new places:

Al's No. 1 Italian Beef
(847) 318-7700
33 S. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge

This is a franchise, supposedly with "the same product" as the Taylor Street and Ontario locations operated by the Pacelli brothers, but a wider menu including salads and wraps.

A couple of doors away, La Tasca Tapas, a second location of the Arlington Heights restaurant (25 W. Davis St., Arlington Heights, 847/398-2400) is preparing to open. No furnishings yet and a "now hiring" sign in the window.

My thoughts on the AH location are that it's noisy but OK. However, whenever I go there, I wish I'd gone into the city or Hillside instead. Last time I was there, lots of the "tapas" seemed more Italian than Spanish.
