Best pan for brown butter

imanewbie | Feb 13, 201602:44 PM     11

I make brown butter once a month or so for my baking needs. And I always just use the only pan I have: a dark nonstick frying pan. And I'm constantly pouring a little onto my white countertop to see if it's the right color. The whole thing is a bit stressful and I'm thinking about getting a pan just for this one thing I need it for. I don't have SS pans as it require more care (and oil/butter) for my cooking than I prefer. I wanna get a pan just for this so I don't want to spend a fortune. I guess the most important qualities are evenness of heating and light colored pan. Suggestions? I assume copper is best? And also most expensive. I haven't purchased it yet, but I assume a 2 quart saucier is too small for this task.
