After too long away, I headed to Pack Jack BBQ in Sebastopol on Sunday. I called ahead to make sure lamb ribs would be available. Good thing, as I snagged the last half-rack of lamb, $14.
The place has been spruced up a bit since my last time and seems to be thriving even under shelter-in-place. Though I will say I was disappointed that the housemade hot link and pies were not available. https://www.chowhound.com/post/hugs-t...
I'm happy to report that the lamb was a step up from my last visit here. I devoured a couple of these gorgeous ribs in the car. Tender, a little chewy on the ends with a dark, flavorful bark, and not in need of any sauce. Full of wood smoke in the Texas-style, a heavy dose but clean, and made for the finest air freshener ever for my car on the drive home. I was glad I had a bite hot on delivery, as the meat seized up and toughened somewhat by the time they cooled down and a gentle warming did not help much to restore the texture.
I also got a half-order of sliced beef (brisket), $10. Though I asked for fatty, this was pretty lean and sliced thinly. Great flavor, but still on the chewy side. The beans continue to be wonderful, meaty tasting, and a touch sweet.
