Pacheco Water Store (and Ice Cream) | Gonzales - Salinas Valley

Melanie Wong | May 13, 201606:54 PM

During a quick buzz through downtown Gonzales in December, I noticed the ice cream cone illustrations on the façade of Pacheco Water Store.

Hmm, is this a filtered water dealer or an ice cream shop?

Filtered water for sure, as these huge tanks inside prove.

But happily, there's also an ice cream counter towards the back. The Mexican-style ice creams and paletas are made in-house.

Since local strawberries were not in season yet, I went with my second favorite paleta flavor, Nuez. Chockful of pecan pieces and the base was maple-y flavored with more ground nuts. This was a bit icy, but better that than over emulsified with fillers.

So, believe it. Pacheco Water Store can be your source for both purified drinking water and excellent ice cream.
