I was very excited to be able to go to lunch today at Ozumo - I was taking one of my colleagues and our team (9 total) out for a "farewell" lunch, as she is leaving our team. We chose Ozumo, thinking it would be a fun, nice place to celebrate her departure. The food was good overall. Four of us had sake flights and most ate sushi (three ordered bento boxes). However, the service was really bad - probably the worst I've experienced in a long time. The restaurant wasn't even that busy, so I'm not sure what the problem was. It took us a really long time to get what we ordered (we were there for two hours and 45 minutes total). To top it off, when we got the bill, they overcharged us for what we ordered, and had to revise the bill. I can't recommend this place to anyone at this point - there are too many other good sushi restaurants in SF. One thing that might be the problem - they had lots of "runners", but few waiters. Is this a new thing with restaurants, cheap out on the waiters, and have "runners"(who bring the food to the table) instead? It's the only reason I could think of why the service was so bad...at one point, the runners agreed to start taking our sushi requests...it was kind of chaos.
