Orlando's "Little Saigon"

Covert Ops | Oct 16, 2002 07:21 PM

Though I live almost an hour away, recently I keep finding myself cruising down Colonial Drive (SR 50) west of Fashion Square Mall, and I see a small area which looks exclusively Vietnamese. Is this the fabled Little Saigon I heard whispers about?

I must admit, I'm a total Vietnamese virgin (let's just say, from my dad's war experience, it was not considered acceptable food in my household) but I'd like to try it, and I think hubby might be game, but I was a friendly place that won't hurt lil' ol' gringo me.

Anyone know of a safe place for me to start, and some good "representative" dishes that might give me an idea of what Vietnamese food is like? Or should I, as my friend suggested, just stick to Thai food, which she claims is the same but better?
