has anyone swung by to see if they're open or re-opening anytime soon? their website's still there and "under construction". i got a hankering for a good dog.

i haven't been on the board in ages, updates:

gaspare's pizza - it's known about but pretty dang good. quite like a middle of the road to good nyc place. had the margheritta, the plain pie is prolly better. may possibly prefer to village on van ness, i'll have to compare sometime.

the pambazo at huarache azteca is aight, nice and greazy, good with a bohemia. gordita is quite nice.

amato's in sj - good solid cheesesteak with proper serving sizes.

ono hawaiian on sloat - the spam musubi's a good deal and pretty good, i prefer the one's at may's in j-town that go down like a brick though.

pancit palabok at ongpin is ok, their more artery clogging options are tastier imho.

rosarito, baja -
on my first trip to rosarito a year ago i had a revelatory carnitas experience at a spot called flor de michoacan, it was almost religious. on a recent trip in mid-late august (18th-25th), i experienced a possible downhill slide. the carnitas were dry, lacking in flavor, and not butchered right. i gave them another sampling on a different day later in the weak ... still bad. i tried at their other location on the same street, and luckily it was still excellent. the second location was about the same level it had been a previous trip. the original location, however used to be superior to the #2 location. hopefully it's just a fluke, maybe the cook was sick or something. i did hear, second-hand, that a week after my visit, someone who'd been there before, ate there and didn't experience the bad carnitas. so there's hope. if anyone knows what i'm talking about and has been there recently, please give me some good news.
