Orange for breakfast

Schatz MacArthur | Mar 21, 2002 02:04 PM

My boyfriend and I tried this place last weekend. What a great spot for breakfast! Though I had my doubts about it based on the crowded wait, oddly orange-flavored coffee-while-you-wait(we wondered if orange juice had been in the caraffe earlier that day)and the somewhat incompetent hostess, once seated, the service was attentive and the food even better. I had the pancakes with squash, carmelized bananas and pecans. Absolutely delicious - not too sweet, with a black pepper/hot-spicy flavor. My boyfriend had the green eggs and ham, which he loved. I had a bite of his, and was very impressed with the pesto eggs (thus the green). The fresh juices were terrific, too. The only significant service blunder turned out to work in our favor, as the waitress forgot to bring our frushi,(fruit sushi)prior to the main dishes. Frushi, we learned, was a wonderful way to finish off such a meal. Everything was fresh and vibrant. Though I fear the Lakeview throngs that flock to this place, its worth getting up early to visit before the crowds.
