Oga tasting

barleywino | Jan 21, 2005 07:30 PM

Tried the tasting at Oga. I really like their sushi (gin-saba, fresh house-made unagi, o-toro, hamachi usuzukuri etc) but probably would not order their tasting again. Lots of interesting ingredients such as winter melon, sweet black bean, etc and good presentation but no dish came out greater than the sum of its parts, at least imho. THe amaebi (several ways) and sushi selection at the end were disappointing, the kobe beef and lobster w/ sticky rice baby bok choy and lily bud were ok but overcooked. Next time I'll stick (happily) with their sushi (or go to Uni for their tasting). PS best sake selection around.
