Oakland Lunchtime Chinatown Series, cont'd: Chef Lau report

susancinsf | Jan 18, 200503:42 PM

Ten hungry hounds descended on Chef Lau's, 301 8th Street in Oakland, to continue our Downtown Oakland lunch series after a brief hiatus...Thanks to Yimster's help, we were able to order from the Chinese menu.

Here is my list of dishes we tried: since I didn't catch all of the proper names I'll let Yimster pipe in with corrections or additions, since I can't read the menu :-) and then let others pipe in with their opinions before coming in with my own (have to go do some work right now...)

This was basically the $78 Chinese menu, with perhaps an add on or two, I believe:

Fish Soup (A broth that was the basis for the sturgeon 'three ways')

Fresh Sturgeon 'three ways' (Head with mustard greens, salt and pepper version, and stir fried with snow peas, mushrooms and other vegetables)

walnut prawns

pork side

mongolian beef

oyster and pork hot pot stew

ginger and green onion crab

crispy chicken

pea sprouts

peking style spareribs

steamed rice

orange slices
