I'm still learning about NZ wines and would appreciate some input from the board.
I read one of Jancis Robinson's old articles that different regions of NZ producing pinot noir are still figuring out best areas to produce. She mentions that the best from NZ aren't in the range of best from Burgundy (makes no mention of Oregon), but says they are better than the worst from Burgundy at the time of publication. That leaves a huge range!
Does anyone have opinions presently where the best pinots are coming from? eg. Central Otago, Martinborough, etc.
Also could someone discuss the relative reputation/quality (great to ok) for these NZ producers?? I realize they are from completely different areas.
