My first post to this most helpful site... I moved from NYC to Bay Area (Los Altos, actually) a year ago. Have been trying to find a place that serves steaks like I used to eat at Wolfgang's and Peter Luger's ("steak for two" from the menu). This means dry-aged porterhouse, high-temperature broiled, served sliced on a porcelain platter propped up at an angle so the juices are ready and waiting to be spooned over the top.
Oh how I miss it! Are there any New York transplants who can tell me if I can get a steak like this near Los Altos or anywhere in the Bay Area? I've certainly had some good cuts of meat at local restaurants I've tried, but they're prepared differently and just don't create the same experience.
