The late night place to hang in Crescent City is the lounge at Northwoods Restaurant. There's a back door to enter after 9pm when the restaurant closes for the night.
We got into town too late for Wing Wednesday, the kitchen had already closed. But I did have a mai tai for World Cocktail Day, and a fellow traveler I talked to at the bar picked up the tab for our group of five! The next night we returned and my colleagues managed to drain two hoppers of beer. The smallest size is 2 liters. My vodka tonic was only $4.
The crowd both times was a mix of locals and visitors. The atmosphere is the polar opposite of a hipster urban bar. The regulars have a nice tradition of buying rounds for each other. It was cool to be included in that, and we bought a round too.
