The new place on Garvery just east of Garfield, south side of the street.
Ehh,not so much. Went tonight. The place was nice enough, service was good enough, prices were reasonable enough and the food was mediocre.
3 Flavor boiled dumplings - the filling was okay, nothing to write home about, but well enough seasoned. The skins were too thick and hadn't been steamed quite enough so they were a bit glutinous. Near as we could tell the three flavors were chives, pork and the dumpling wrappers themselves - pretty nondescript overall.
Potstickers - dull, and once more the skins were too thick, to the point that they were fried well enough on the bottom but had failed to adequately cook up top.
Meat pie - very greasy, pretty in flavor.
Spicy lamb - pretty good, but not even as good as one can get at China Islamic.
I'll try Mama's Lu next, but I doubt I'll be going back to Northern Dumpling House unless I hear that some of their Shandong noodle dishes are worth it.
