Tried Nino's Brazilian Restaurant and Pizzeria for dinner last nite. We've been looking for a thicker crust pizza we like for years since moving to Berkeley and finally tried this spot. It still isn't quite what we're looking for (ahh that ultimate pizza quest!) but it was pretty good.
They have Italian Style and Brazilian style pizzas - the difference being tomato sauce on the Italian and fresh tomato on the Brazilian one.
They also have Brazilian food and Italian standbys (pasta, gnocchi). Skip the salads - Nino's Special was your basic iceberg lettuce and a few other nothing special veggies with a thin housemade creamy Italian dressing.
We had Mario's Special pizza with hearts of palm, linguica, artichoke hearts and black olives. Lots of cheese, nice yeasty crust (altho it did get a bit soggy upon sitting, don't think I'd want to get it delivered), plenty of linguica (nice change from pepperoni), the fresh tomato was your basic supermarket bland one that just added wetness to the pizza, no real taste.
We'd go back for the pizzas, try the Italian one for comparison and try some of the Brazilian food (available for dinner only) - including Feijoada (th/fri/sat/sun only) - and the Brazilian beer (Xingu stout, pilsner and black beer).
Maybe I'll have to do a tasting at Mr Pizza Man, Mozzerella di Bufalo and Nino's.... add it to my 'to-do' list!
