Went there for lunch and really did not like it. First I made a reservation and they could not find it. However, we were seated immediately because there was plenty of room. We were given lunch menus and the wine menu. When I inquired about the rest. wk menu she blurted out that they have chilled melon soup or mixed greens and liver or skate so fast that I had to ask her to repeat it. She did and I then had to ask her how the entrees were prepared. She reluctantly said pan seared and no further elaboration was given. No mention of the sides that it came with. The liver came with a mound of raw watercress on top which I really dislike due to its taste. She also did not ask how we wanted the liver prepared and to be honest I did not state it since I was so taken aback by the waitress' attitude and obvious dismay that we wanted to order the special pre-fixe. Both came too well-done for our taste. There was no dessert and she just slapped the check on the table.
I really think that if restaurants do not want people to order the pre-fixe they should not participate in Rest. Wk or (extended Rest. Wk). This is the first rest. that I have been to that doesn't have a menu for the special or serve only 2 courses (no dessert). Many rests. take the opportunity to do the special well in the hopes that people will come back for a special occasion. I have been to many of those rests. i.e. La Caravelle, Judson Grill, Town, etc. I certainly will not be going back for any reason. There are so many steakhouses in Manhattan that if I do go to one, it will most certainly not be this one.
