Finally made it to this charming spot last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a dozen wellfleets, at the bar, crisp, clean, delicious. There were also some other east coast varieties I would have liked to have tried (island creek, nauset, etc) but I was off parking the car when the oysters were ordered. Oh well, will have to get back there again soon to sample :)
Four of us split an order of fried calamari; neptune burger; and lobster spaghettini (monday night special).
All excellent. The burger came out as ordered, Medium rare, big chunk o' burger w/cheddar cheese and fried oysters piled on top. Fresh hand-cut fries. Delicious. Calamari was good, I'm sort of sick of the standard fried calamari you see on every menu but this was lightly flash fried, drizzled w/a sort of lemon aioli and there was this chunky tomato, olive oil, garlic, caper ? sauce for dipping..which was really my favorite part. Lonster spaghettini was excellent (and yeah, you paid for that excellence at $31.95 for an order) Chunks of lobster served w/perfectly cooked spaghettini (it's got to be homemade pasta), chunks of tomato, with breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. Really good, though I think it could have used just a little more kick in flavor. More garlic perhaps? A little hot pepper? Not sure. It may have been b/c I had just eaten my portion of the burger, which was really flavorful. Either way, I still thought it was good. Service was attentive, everything came out piping hot (how could it not, the kitchen is probably 20 feet away from the tiny dining area).
Would definitely like to get back to this place. Going on a Mon night is a good idea - 1) for that Mon night lobster spaghettini special 2) to avoid the crowds...though honestly we still had to wait abt 15 min for a table at peak time, around 7:30. By the time we left, close to 9, bar was cleared out. Would love to get back there, hang at the bar and enjoy a few more oysters, sample some more of those appetizers.
All in all, great meal, one highly recommended.
