Narita Airport--the Verdict

I just returned from my trip and wanted to report on my experience at Narita. Our flight from Beijing parked at mid-field, so we had to deal with the inconvenience of the buses to get to the terminal. Once there, I got to the immigration counter quickly, was in a very short line, and got through to the land side of the airport in no time. I made a bee-line to the basement to pick up some onigiri at Leopard, and then went to the fourth floor for sushi at Tsukiji Sushi-ya. There I had a special sushi teishoku for Y2000 plus a side order of uni (Y650), all of which was excellent. Fearing that I would face long lines at security and emigration, I rushed back to the departure area, only to be greeted by no lines at all at either spot (and FYI there is no need to pay exit tax for travelers leaving the same day as their arrival, and besides I saw no machines like there used to be to buy the exit tax, so perhaps it has been eliminated altogether). In the end, I still had a good 90 minutes to kill before my departure.
