MWMWCSG at Tablespoon

Melanie Wong's Master of Wine Chowhound Study Group met tonight to taste Pinot Noirs from all over the world.

We assembled at Tablespoon (2209 Polk at Vallejo) to take advantage of their free corkage on Mondays. I hope they didn't think we abused the privilege by opening ten bottles!

We decided to order in clusters rather than try to pass plates around the table with two wine glasses each and a dozen wine bottles. Our end of the table ordered four appetizers:

Dungeness crab salad with organic beets, pistachios and tarragon
Pulled Pork Spareribs BBQ with slaw of frisee and pickled papaya
Macaroni and Cheese with sharp cheddar and applewood smoked bacon
Torchon of fois gras with medjool date jam and herb salad

Three entrees:

Beef chuck and pork loin meatloaf with roast asparagus, mashed potatoes and spicy ketchup
Red wine braised beef ravioli with broccoli rabe and basilica sauce
Oven roasted pork tenderloin with roast brussels sprouts and cippolini onions

We finished with a cheese plate (selected from their list):

3-milk langhe robiola
french munster
brescianella alla Aquavitae
monte embro (a Spanish goat cheese)
