Mothers' Day Tea or Healthy Between Museums & Chelsea

My mom and I will be bopping around town next Sunday. She said "no" to reservations anywhere. Since we will probably be winding up in Chelsea in the evening I thought that going to T-Salon (near ABC Carpets in the Flatiron District) for afternoon tea might be a fun pick-me-up at some point. How is the tea service there? I used to go for sandwiches and tea but never had "the" tea.

On the other hand, she is quite health conscious so getting a full afternoon tea probably will not appeal to her. Any other ideas...Mom is young for her age and some trendiness or quirkiness is OK although not at the expense of other factors. She likes good service, nice ambiance and EXCELLENT value. She refuses to wait on lines. She LOVED Toqueville. Is there anything in super-west Chelsea that might be fun, doable (no reservation necessary) and a good value? (It doesn't have to be Chelsea though.) I've passed by some cute-places along tenth avenue recently..My price-range is low to high-moderate.

Well, maybe we'll just wind up hitting Wondee Siam (or something like it) when we get hungry. Not such a bad idea actually. (Or maybe something lighter at T-Salon--I am pretty sure she will like the ambiance there.)

Hmm...any ideas? I'd appreciate the input.

Thanks everyone!
