My mother used to make very delicious pork chops, which she browned and then cooked in milk and ginger... I'm sure she didn't have a recipe, or I would have it. The thread about pork braised in milk put me in mind of this, and I wonder if anyone has made pork chops this way and can help me reconstruct it? She cooked it in an electric frying pan, and that's about all I remember. Fresh ginger or powdered? Given that we ate this in the 60s, I'm thinking she used powder, but that I could use fresh, probably. She probably added salt and pepper. How long would you cook this? Since I don't have the old electric frying pan (maybe my brother does), should I do this on the stovetop or in the oven? For how long? Anybody have a recipe, or advice? I never ate this anywhere except at home. Perhaps my mother got the (unwritten) recipe from her German mother-in-law (my grandmother)?
