how long have i been calling this place mooNtone? like, forever. now i know.
first off i'm docking this place one full star for not allowing me to speak directly with the Sushi Chef. seriously, every time i tried to inquire about something our waitress got visibly unnerved and jumped right in. i can't tell you how much i hate having to get a quorum to make a food order.
the fish and preparation were fresh-ish and pretty standard. got some hamachi and toro sahimi, a couple of rolls for the GF (they were skinny which was a plus for her) and then some nigiri.
i like Yama much, much better.
the setting was pretty decent with very high ceilings and traditional Japanese decor.
also be advised that they do Teppanyaki here and when we arrived there was nobody at the Hibachis but about halfway through our dinner they started up and there was quite a racket. it probably would not have been too bad if they were slammin' and bangin' when we got there but the place was so dead quiet that when they started in it was quite a cacophony.
i can't say that i'd be back, cuz like i said, Yama is way better and has a broader selection of Sake."
