Mooncakes, again

Since a number of us were craving Mooncakes recently, I thought I would fill you in on the aftermath in my household.
I am regretting ever recommending Fay Da Bakery to those of you in NYC area. This year they really went commercial and their boxed cakes were showing up in Chinese supermarkets. I think the increased volume has caused a drop in quality.
Happily, my husband and I also visited Yi Mei Bakery on the weekend before Moon Festival and found it bare excepting two cases piled high with Mooncakes of every description. "THIS is more like it!" we said. We bought Longan, Kumquat, Ham, Pineapple and Green Tea flavors and all were reasonably priced, far fresher than Fay Da, elegantly flavored - not cloying- and gone too fast.

Well, there's always next year....
