My girlfriend and were trying to organize a get-together this Saturday night. We were looking for a restaurant that's sort of upbeat, bright, and happy. We were also looking for a place that had solid offerings of non-seafood [one non-seafood eater in the group], and a place that served mojitos. It looks like there's going to be about 10 people in the group.
Our initial thought was Lauriol Plaza, but then figured that waiting 2 hours for a table might not be that much fun. So we tried Jaleo. Which also doesn't take reservations. And will have a 1.5 - 2 hour wait.
When I said something about mojitos, Jaleo referred me to Cafe Atlantico. So I checked the internet, and came up with this link. Which seems to list a bunch of restaurants/clubs that fit the bill: Havana Village, Cafe Atlantico, Cafe Citron, Ortanique, Wazuri, Gabriel Restaurant, Rumba Cafe. The Post downgraded Rumba for using pre-mixed mojitos with Minute Maid limeade. I thought Ortanique looked a bit more expensive than we wanted. Beyond that I have no clue. I've never been to any of these places.
Thoughts? Feedback? Other suggestions? We'd like to stay in DC. Metro accessible is a plus, but not required.
